3/28/11 Katie's Healthy Eating Journal: Monday

I thought of some more things that are great for babies.  Flannel pajamas are terrific for the winter when it's in the 30's and below.  But, be careful of flannels because you don't want your baby to get too hot.  One of the number 1 causes of SIDS is a baby that was too hot.  Usually you can tell if they were too hot because the next morning their head or back is still sweaty.  Stick with cotton jammies for the rest of the year.  If you're going to do jammies with footies in them the best kind are the ones that zip up!  Trust me, you want very little to do in the middle of the night when you're half asleep.  If they are buttons it's not a big deal but they just take longer.  If you're child hates being wet and they're still waking up every few hours jammies with zippers are glorious!

Also, I just blogged about having anxiety that my child hasn't rolled over yet...drum roll please...HOORAY!  On Saturday 3/26 I was visiting my parents in the morning before my friend's baby shower.  FJ was just laying on the floor on his back while my Mom and I chatted.  I was absent-mindedly helping him roll back and forth on his tummy (that's what my book says to do to strengthen his muscles) and next thing we knew, from his belly to his tummy (which is usually the easiest way to start rolling over) he had rolled over.  LOL, I had him try it again because I couldn't believe my eyes.  The only bummer was that my husband had missed his first time.  Of course I tried to get him to do it a third time so I could record it for my husband and send it to him and FJ would have none of it!  I guess he was exhausted by this point and just got mad.  I'm so excited that he did it and I was there for his first time!!!!
